How nice it is to know that DepEd sets activities like this "to inspire educator to do more for the school children to ensure their future". It's a SAD THING to note that in our school,Ozamiz City National High School, the Principal III, Mrs. Jovita B. Saquin with the Administrative Officer IV, Ms. Arlene C. Via conducted a "team building" during the 2nd week of December 2010 , not for teachers but for the Office Personnel, selected allied teachers, 2 head teachers and JOB ORDER MEN... LEAVING almost 100 teachers. Their reason was to have a cascading effect of the team building...the reason why teachers were not brought along. But why bring along the JO's of the school? Are they the priorities of the team building??? If it would be cascading,...why also bring along teachers??? WORST THING WAS THEY SPENT OVER A 100thousand php for their own pleasure. THEY DID NOT EVEN HOLD A CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR TEACHERS because they started to hate teachers in school 'coz teachers started to question their decisions, whims and caprices. Other Head teachers decided not to go with the activity set because they can't afford to leave their teachers in school. Teachers who has been the molder of children in school... students whose also been the source of the fund they're spending. To avoid conflicts with the head of school, other head teachers look for reasons for them to be excused in the activity. The good principal then, ordered the said HT's to have their statements sworn at the Fiscal's Office to make their statements valid for she's afraid that she might be questioned.
DEAR BLOG AUTHOR,... THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE RIGHT AVENUE FOR ME TO SHARE THIS...BUT WE ARE NOT HAPPY ANYMORE WITH OUR ATMOSPHERE IN SCHOOL AND I AM AFRAID THAT TEACHERS WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE AND PRODUCTIVE IF THIS SITUATION GOES ON...IT'S ALRIGHT FOR US TO BE JAM-PACKED WITH A LOTS OF PAPER WORKS AND ACTIVITIES BECAUSE IT'S BEEN A PART IF OUR JOB EVER SINCE.. . WHAT WE LONG FOR....IS THE BEST PLACE FOR US TO PRACTICE OUR PROFESSION WITH JUST AND HUMANE LEADERS FOR WE BELIEVED THAT TEACHING IS THE NOBLEST PROFESSION WHO PERPETUALLY MOLD DIFFERENT PROFESSIONS...."Professionals who will continue to build and lead a strong and progressive nation".

I am very much happy that you have stumbled on this blog created for the reason already implied below its masthead. I am also glad that though you are in a emotionally, psychologically and intellectually 'hostile environment,'you have remained steadfast in your philosophy of education which I believe is the key that will let you overcome all the challenges in your vocation.

You know, I consider you to be still lucky because you have the fire of continuously carrying on your mission and belief that TEACHING IS THE NOBLEST PROFESSION WHO PERPETUALLY MOLD DIFFERENT PROFESSIONS...."Professionals who will continue to build and lead a strong and progressive nation."

I could sense that you have a different kind of passion which is the most important.

Those leaders you mentioned will come to pass but your passion should now because there are more students who will be relying on you.

You know, we could not certainly avoid those type of leaders but it will never be a hindrance to make us effective teachers.

We could choose not to see their faces, but never our students. It is the advantage of being a teacher viz a school leader. Teachers have the innocent looks of their pupils and students. Their witty and cute smiles, their childishness, their caring, their longing for knowledge, their wit or at the extreme, their learning disabilities-- which for me, to deal with used to help me forget my personal problems.

The school leaders don't have that luxury except to show who they really are at times and to mingle with professional adults who may be acting immaturely and incompetently.

Our schools in our division particularly the elementary level have a lot of time to have fun, renew, energize and sharpen the saw but it doesn't mean that we don't have problems.

In your case, it would be better if your school teachers organization leadership have a dialogue with your principal-- meaning, all grievances should be settled first at the school level, properly documented so that just in case it doesn't prosper, you could raise it to your cluster before it reach the division and the higher ups.
